this is Sofonisba Anguissola
born in Cremona Italy, she is one of 6 sisters that painted.
when introduced to that Michelangelo who
was impressed by her , because of this she was able to
become a Lady-in Waiting for the queen of Spain and court painter. her early
works are mostly portraits , but even her other work has been told to have been
created with delicacy and charm. ahead of her time she was intelligent, well connected
and from the aristocracy. We can thank her for opening the doors to women to
pursue a career in the arts.
